Here at British Ironmongery we are committed to supplying some of the best quality Door Hardware and Ironmongery to customers all over the UK. We try to supply ironmongery for all tastes, from traditional to contemporary with as wide a range of finishes as possible.
We obviously specialise in British Made Ironmongery and have one of the most comprehensive ranges of British Made Door Furniture in the UK, with most items produced and finished by hand. So you can always be sure of the very high quality!

"Back when I was a locksmith, I was fitting new locks on house which was built in the late 1890's. It had all the original door furniture which had by now matured to a beautiful antique brass finish. On fitting the new locks we realised we also needed to replace a couple of the door knobs.

Unfortunately the only replacements I could find were Polished Brass from the local DIY store. We fitted them, but of course they just didn't fit with the original ironmongery.  I was not pleased and was determined this would never happen to me again.

So I started looking for manufacturers of ironmongery who could supply high quality door furniture in a range of finishes, both traditional and contemporary.

What I found were the suppliers we still use today. Manufacturers who produce the highest quality British Made, Handcrafted Door Furniture and Ironmongery in a massive range of finishes, including; Polished and Satin Brass, Chrome and Nickel, Antique Brass, Black Iron, Pewter and various Bronze finishes and I must say I fell in love with the quality of this ironmongery.

The seeds of British Ironmongery were sown.

It seemed to me that people just weren't aware of the high quality ironmongery being made still in this country. Bit by bit, when it came to door furniture lower quality foreign made products were being accepted as the only option. So I set up Arden Architectural Ltd (British Ironmongery is the trading name of Arden Architectural Ltd). Specialising in high end, handcrafted British ironmongery.

Although we do also sell some foreign made products now as a cheaper option, our speciality is very much high end, British made ironmongery.

An example of this would be the choice we made recently, when we changed the web address. We had the option of streamlining our product and finishes range, so we could make sure we kept all items in stock, for a quick turnaround.

We decided instead however, to keep our full product range still available to order online. This means that although we stock as many products as possible, we can't keep all items, in every finish, in stock. We often get them made bespoke for your order.

This can obviously give a longer lead time on many orders, but enables us to still offer you the widest range of products possible, rather than just the most popular lines. Because of this we recommend that you contact us before ordering if you need a delivery by a specific date. We will of course contact you anyway if despatch of your items will take more than 7 days, with the option of a full refund.

We also offer a 100% bespoke service for all of our ironmongery range of products (including handles, knobs and locks). So if you have an old door handle, lock or any other piece of ironmongery, the likes of which are no longer in production (often a totally different style or size to anything modern) which you want replicating, please email us and send us a pic. We can get it made up for you in a choice of different finishes.
